Really cool new offerings from Pro-Ject and their best values ever!

Pro-Ject Audio

News from CES 2010

It will come as no surprise that 2009 was not exactly strong for CE retailing.  That being said, vinyl sales increased 33% and Pro-Ject continues to build on that strength by introducing five great new tables at CES.  We continue to be impressed with the significant strides made in the quality and value of Pro-Ject’s offering with each introduction, further validating why they sell more turntables than any company in the world.  Here is what you can expect in 2010.

 RM-1.3      $499 retail

Available in Gloss Black, Red and White, the RM-1.3 combines the great style for which the RM series is known with a cool one piece Aluminum S type arm and a motor decoupled from the table (see pic above). Add a pre-mounted Sumiko Pearl and a white belt that adds a neat contrast and you have the table that dealers went nuts for at the show. Some guessed the retail as high as twice the actual $499 price.  We expect RM-1.3 sales to quickly rival those of the entry level Debut III.

RM 5.1 SE  $999 retail

The RM 5.1 SE gets the fully carbon fiber  9 cc arm with integral headshell, previously only available starting with the RM 9.1.  The MDF platter uses vinyl for constrained-layer damping and a Sumiko BP No. 2 rounds out the package.

RM-9.2       $2399

Pro-Ject has been hard at work on an upgrade to their 9cc Carbon Fiber arm and the resulting Evolution arm made its debut on the $6000 Xtension table at CES 2009.  The massive C-collar bearing housing has been completely redesigned, resulting in a drastically reduced noise floor.  A new sorbothane damped counterweight reduces arm resonance.  New magnetic levitation cones are countersunk into the plinth for a cleaner look and better sound.  The Evolution arms are $400-$600 more expensive than their CC counterparts, and handily best them for sound quality.

RM-10.1     $3699

The RM-10.1 receives a 10” version of the Evolution arm mentioned in the description of the RM-9.2.  The increased arm length reduces tracking distortion for better sound.  The plinth has been reworked with sand and metal filled chambers that raise the effective mass and reduce unwanted resonances.  Also new is the addition of the Ground It Deluxe 3, which adds an additional 4 lbs of mass and the same magnetic levitation cones from the RM-9.2.  Spike discs are countersunk into the Ground It Deluxe 3 to receive the cones from the RM-10.1.  The Ground It Deluxe 3 will be available separately at around $800, and makes a fantastic isolation platform for CD players, Pre Amplifiers, Amplifiers- pretty much any component you think would benefit from serious isolation.

Xperience Classic         $1499

The Xperience returns to our Pro-Ject lineup in three beautiful new finishes- Olive (shown), Mahogany, and Black Lacquer.  Outfitted with 9 CC arm, Sumiko BP No. 2 and a hinged dust cover, the Xperience Classic combines great sound with a classic look that customers love.
